The Blue Ant is not actually an ant but a wasp.

The female is wingless but not harmless, being the owner of a painful sting, and when observed, she was probably searching for a mole cricket to paralyse with her sting and then parasitize by injecting an egg into it.

It's a beautiful looking insect. As long, that is, as you steer clear of its painful sting, and as long as you don't happen to look like a mole cricket.
